Camila Censoni Obniski is a practising Architect and Urbanist. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Universidade P. Mackenzie in 2005 and a Master of Science in Architecture from Washington State University in 2011. Her professional practice includes projects across uses, focused on the human scale and experience of space. Her work includes street-activating commercial spaces—such as bars, restaurants, and microbreweries—as well as workspaces, exhibitions, and residential renovations and new construction. Projects range from the private to the public sphere, focused on the relationship between inside and outside and how this interaction contributes to the urban experience. In addition to her practice, Camila serves as a visiting lecturer and associated researcher at Universidade P. Mackenzie. Her research focuses on the intersection between public sphere theory, civic activation practices, and care-based approaches in design. She examines how the production of public-interest space, through urban design, can activate both aspects of the public sphere: its physical expression in vibrant, accessible spaces and its civic dimension through participation and access to decision-making. Within the Urbanism, City, Care Research Group, she studies how practices of care—particularly those inclusive of vulnerable voices—can enrich participatory frameworks and complement existing civic theory.
