Dr Ege Uluca Tümer is a cultural heritage conservation scholar whose work focuses on historic urban landscapes, fortifications, and the management of cultural heritage sites. For more than two decades, she has taught and supervised in cultural heritage conservation, architectural history, and heritage management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, particularly within Cultural Heritage Studies and Conservation & Restoration programmes. Her research centres on the transformation and conservation of historic urban landscapes in the Eastern Mediterranean, with a strong emphasis on the walled city of Famagusta, its fortifications and Gothic churches, as well as Ottoman and British-period urban morphologies and the adaptive reuse of historic buildings and archaeological sites. She began her academic career at İstanbul Kültür University in September 1999, teaching architectural history, design, conservation and restoration. Since 2015, she has served in the Department of Architecture at Eastern Mediterranean University, holding roles including Vice Chair of the Department and Coordinator of the Conservation and Restoration Master Program. She is the author and editor of multiple books and numerous peer-reviewed articles supported by international bodies and interdisciplinary collaborations. She has led key heritage planning and community-oriented projects, including the Walled City chapter in the Famagusta Master Plan. Her work integrates research, field practice, and community-based heritage management to strengthen the resilience of historic cities.
