Eva Rodriguez Riestra

Member and Senior Advisor on Public Space

Eva is an arts administrator, curator and researcher with a background in architecture, urban design and art history. Eva is dedicated to spatial justice and interested in the role that art and creative practices can play in making cities inclusive and sustainable. For the last fifteen years, she has had a leadership role in the team creating and delivering the City of Sydney’s acclaimed public art program, most recently as manager of collections and cultural heritage. Eva has over twenty years’ experience in teaching and lecturing on public art, architecture, landscape architecture, critical social practices, exhibiting and curating architecture, and on-site-specific practices and connecting to place. She is a founding member of Architects for Peace; and of the working group bringing together peace-focused collections, galleries and trails to establish a network of peace museums in Australia; a member of the International Peace Researchers Association; and an advisor to the International Network of Museums for Peace. She is on the Board of the Living Room Theatre and co-director of their newly established research centre. Eva is also one of the organisers of the ongoing Super Sydney project, a community-focused and experimental form of research where programs such as walking towards a metropolitan consciousness extend the means by which Sydneysiders understand their city. Eva has curated and co-curated several exhibitions and presented academic papers at national and international conferences. Her current research areas include curating and exhibiting architecture; architecture museums; design thinking and creative process; care as agency in the public domain; and public art and the ethics of care.
