Federica Terenzi
Member and Early-career Advisor on Public Space
Federica completed her Master’s in Architecture and a postgraduate Master’s focusing on strategic and social reused of assets confiscated from organised crime at the University of Bologna (Postgraduate Master Diploma in Law Management and reuse of assets and businesses confiscated from the mafia. Pio La Torre), before studying Urban Design at Bartlett, in London. Aiming to give her contribution against the housing crisis in the UK, she worked for three years in modular construction in London. Previously, she gained experience at Riwaq – Centre for Architectural Conservation in the West Bank and Italy, working on landscape, urban and planning strategies, public consultation, and bespoke housing restoration and refurbishment for private clients. Federica also collaborated for three years with the University of Bologna and Italian Local Authorities, mapping assets confiscated from organised crime for studying and designing their social and strategic reuse. This collaboration led to two publications and the development of a shared platform where non-profit stakeholders and local authorities can collect information and create visions and territorial strategies based on socially conscious reuse of assets confiscated from mafia. As part of her collaboration with the University of Bologna, she was also invited to present this research during seminars and lectures. She is keen to bring social value to any of her designs and experiences. She values the input that every user can bring to inform the design, and she always tries to create and stimulate this interaction in any project and scale. She currently works as an architect and urban designer at Nimtim Architects in London, UK. Here she works on a different range of high-quality residential projects, but also Council-led landscape and housing projects and engagement events.
