Fernando Gutierrez
Member of the Scientific Committe and Early-career Advisor on Public Space
Dr Fernando Gutiérrez is an urban researcher and architect. He is currently an Associate Lecturer at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL (University College London). Fernando obtained a PhD in Urban Studies at the UCL Institute of the Americas. He holds an MSc in Sustainable Urbanism (The Bartlett School of Planning, UCL) and is a chartered architect in Mexico. Fernando’s research explores various themes, including public space, urban regeneration, urban heritage, urban cultures and urban inequalities. His work has focused on Mexico, and more broadly, Latin America and the global South. His research has also examined various processes of grassroots (bottom-up) revitalisation of public space, as well as the role of community engagement, social attachment and collective memory.
