Fraya Frehse is an Associate Professor of Sociology (of the City, of Space and Everyday Life) at the University of São Paulo (USP). At USP, she coordinates the Center for Studies and Research on the Sociology of Space and Time and the Laboratory of Social Research (LAPS) apart from being a member of the ‘Global Cities’ Program of the University of São Paulo Institute of Advanced Studies and acting as Partner of the Global Center of Spatial Methods for Urban Sustainability (SMUS), which is based at TU Berlin and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). She is a research fellow of the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq), an alumna of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and a life member of Clare Hall College (University of Cambridge). Her research addresses the relations between body, public space and urbanisation from the standpoint, especially of the São Paulo streets; social inequality/homelessness and public space; intersectionality and (public) space; space and time in sociology; public space and urban sustainability.
