Gregor Mews

Executive Council Board Member

Dr Gregor H. Mews is an urban designer, researcher, and educator passionate about creating public spaces that foster equity, health, and play. With more than two decades of experience working across academia, government, NGOs, and industry, he focuses on how design can serve as a bridge between social impact, sensory experience, and ecological thinking. Gregor lectures in Urban Design and Town Planning at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, and is the author of Flux Cities (Springer, 2025), which explores new ways of understanding cities through the window of ecological metamodernism. His work brings together ideas from neuroarchitecture, environmental design, and policy innovation to reimagine how people and places can flourish together. As the founder of several not-for-profit organisations (such as Urban Synergies Group and Australian Institute of Play) and a proud member of City Space Architecture, Gregor contributes to international dialogues that advance public space as a common good and a living expression of care, democracy, and (be)longing.
