PhD Architect and Economist specialised in Regional and International Studies. Professor and Chair of Town Planning at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) until 2024, where he has been coordinator of the PhD, Research Master in Urbanism and Regional Design Programmes and of the European Master of Urbanism. He is currently Emeritus Professor at UPC. Doctorate Honoris Causa at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina). Founder of the International Laboratory of Cultural Landscapes (MIT-UPC) and director of the journal Identities: Territory, Culture, and Heritage. He gave lectures for Master’s and PhD courses in ninety European, Asian, North American, and South American Universities. He is the author of more than four hundred books, book chapters or articles in specialised journals, promoter of seventy PhD and over two hundred Master’s theses. On a professional basis, he worked as principal at CCRS in several European, Asian and South American countries, where he combined theoretical research with the practice of regional and urban design. Three times awarded with the Spanish National Prize of Urbanism, and with the Catalonian Prize of Urbanism and the Catalonian Special Prize for Heritage Projects.
