Naveenaa Munuswamy
Member, Early-career Advisor on Public Space and Geographic Coordinator
Naveenaa Munuswamy is an architect and urban designer whose work focuses on building safer, more equitable streets for people who walk, cycle, and use public space. With experience across India and Southeast Asia, she works with national, state, and city governments to translate policy goals into implementable street designs, mobility strategies, and evidence-based toolkits. Naveenaa has collaborated with institutions such as the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy, the Global Designing Cities Initiative, and various municipal governments, producing conceptual and technical drawings, policy recommendations, and tactical urbanism pilots. She approaches public space as a civic responsibility, advocating for design that is context-sensitive, inclusive, and grounded in real-world behaviour rather than abstract ideals. She is particularly interested in how cities can build public spaces that support safety, dignity, and everyday mobility for all.
