Sarah Mui
Volunteer for the Public Space Academy
Sarah is a catalytic architect. She brings collaborative creations grounded in human-centred design thinking to connect people to the spaces in their communities and to strengthen the social fabric. Her work focuses on public space, social design, and cross-disciplinary creative strategy, advancing public space innovation in the city through both design and research. Her upbringing in Hong Kong and London shaped Sarah into a “glocalist” who enjoys adding a sense of humour and cultural twists to everything she designs. When she is not laughing with the One Bite team and her students, this winner of the Hong Kong Young Architect Award 2015 is likely doodling her next rhapsodic, city-hacking plan. She is also an awardee of Women of Excellence by Jessica Magazine (2017). In 2018, she received the DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award and a Certificate of Commendation from the Secretary for Home Affairs of the Hong Kong SAR Government. She was later recognised as one of “40 Under 40” in the Architecture category by Perspective. Sarah is a Registered Architect in Hong Kong and a Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. She is an IAF Certified Professional Facilitator and a Certified Facilitator with the LUMA Institute. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, and a First Class BSSc (Arch) with Honours from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She currently serves as Chair of the Hong Kong Architecture Centre (2023–2025), and as a Special Committee Member of the Hong Kong Housing Society and a Member of the Environmental Campaign Committee.
